Welcome to the random portfolio of an underrated designer. I'm Pedro Fortuna. Seventeen years in fashion, designing for brands like Zara, Real Madrid, Holas, and Loavies.
"I, the unwilling, led by the unknowing, am doing the impossible for the ungrateful. I have done so much for so long with so little that I am now qualified to create anything from nothing."
I really like this quote. Don't know who said it originally, but it mirrors parts of my career more accurately than I'd care to admit.
But guess what? It built my character, made me better at my job, and gave me tons of experience. Dealing with impossible timelines, shifting briefs, and constraints that appear two weeks before production while still performing at my top game and delivering the best results. All of it taught me something valuable: how to make collections work when budgets are tight, deadlines are impossible, and briefs keep changing.
Turns out, all those impossible projects made me better at the possible ones.
Here's what I learned: Great storytelling comes from a blend of technical mastery, emotional depth, and knowing your audience. That's how I approach every project.
What I do:
End-to-end design from research through production. Print development, color strategy, technical specs, material sourcing, manufacturer coordination across beachwear, knitwear, activewear, and underwear.
What I've delivered:
Holas Beachwear: Led creative direction for 10 years. Premium men's collections with complete creative ownership-every print, every palette, every season. Built a brand with a loyal customer base and consistent growth.
Loavies Swimwear: 6 years designing women's high-volume swimwear for European e-commerce. 40+ styles per season, high production responsibility. Elevated product quality within fast-fashion price points and timelines.
Zara Swimwear/Technical Knits: Designed hundreds of swimwear styles for men and women, distributed across 80+ countries. Selected to pioneer Zara Athleticz performance line as lead designer.
Real Madrid Merchandising: 200+ garments across 6 seasonal collections for one of the world's biggest football clubs. Design for a global fanbase that notices every detail.
Intercolor Portugal: Selected as one of 5-6 designers to represent Portugal on Intercolor's international color forecasting team, 2013-2016. Developed seasonal color proposals 24 months ahead of market.
What makes it work:I've worked premium positioning and fast fashion. Concept development for luxury brands and high-volume production for global retail. Different rules, different constraints, same discipline.
Research-driven color palettes. Prints developed in-house or with collaborators. Technical execution that actually gets manufactured. Fits refined through multiple production cycles. Sustainable materials integrated deliberately, not as marketing.
Beachwear and knitwear are my core-seasonal and year-round versatility. I understand how bodies move in technical fabrics. I know how prints read on curved surfaces. I know the difference between a concept that looks good in a mood board and one that survives production.
I know what works. I know what sells. And I know how to make both happen under pressure.
SERVICES:
Full Collection Development:
Concept to production: research, mood boards, color palettes, garment sketches, tech packs, material sourcing, manufacturer coordination.
Standalone Design Services:
• Trend research & seasonal mood boards
• Color palette development & forecasting
• Print & pattern design (including rapport creation)
• Technical garment sketches (croquis for presentation or production)
• Tech pack creation (construction details, materials, trims)
• Material research & sustainable fabric sourcing
• Manufacturer liaison & production coordination
Creative Direction:
Seasonal collection strategy, brand visual identity for fashion lines, product range architecture.
I've always been drawn to nature, big cats especially. The efficiency. The focus. Seventeen years in fashion taught me to work the same way: fast when it matters, independently when possible, collaboratively when it counts.
Let's work.
